Install or update
- New installation: the setup installs into
C:\BroadTalk(you may choose another folder), asks for the admin password, and can open the Windows firewall and put a shortcut on the desktop. - Update: stop the server, run the setup of the new version. It finds the installed one, replaces the program and removes the files the new version no longer needs. The configuration, presets, event log, certificates and
appsettings.jsonstay as they are. - A server shows in its admin when a newer version is here.
What's new
0.0.2 — 2026-09-30
Breaking changes
- server: Harden the admin, control and signaling APIs — the control API refuses key, listen and call for a role whose panel is not connected (409) and answers 404 for an unknown role or key; update scripts that relied on 400.
- api: One consistent path scheme for the whole API — every API path moved (see docs/reference.md); update scripts, OSC controllers and the Stream Deck plugin (reinstall it).
- Drop the compatibility code for the former product name — an appsettings.json must use the BroadTalk section, the configuration file is broadtalk-config.json, and csc_ tokens no longer work.
- server: Feeds, audio sources without a panel — the Program profile is gone (a feed replaces it) and settings.programDuckingAmount is settings.feedDuckingAmount.
New features
- streamdeck: Panel keys by position, with one role for the deck
- server: The control state names each key's target
- streamdeck: A button's role is Key or the role it talks to
- server: Report mixer trouble instead of a periodic summary
- admin: Explain the audio engine on the Live page
- server: The install step and the update check
- admin: Show when a newer version is available
- server: Server settings on the admin's Settings page, data folder
- server: Close one crosspoint from the admin
- server: A refused PIN tells the attempts left and the lockout
- client: PIN entry with a dot display and a keypad
- admin: A Feeds page, and the Live matrix talks in columns
- client: The feed page sends a line input as a feed
- Every gain goes up to +18 dB
- admin: The Keys page is Panels, the tick matrix goes
- server: Console messages go to a log file, a crash to its own
- Keys without a label are named by what they do
Fixes
- client: Recover from a dropped or refused connection
- streamdeck: A release always reaches the key its press went to
- admin: Square crosspoint matrix with its own styles
- client: Nothing on the panel moves the keys
- admin: Shorter labels in the crosspoint legend
- Talk and Listen everywhere, no hears, reaches or speaks
- server: The admin live socket reads, so the keep-alive holds
- server: An unreadable configuration no longer stops the server
- admin: Toasts never block a button, Save closes the editor

The first release of BroadTalk, and the starting point of this changelog: every later version lists what changed since. BroadTalk is a software intercom matrix: the server mixes the audio, operators talk from the browser without installing anything, and the admin is a password-protected web page where every change applies at once. It covers point-to-point talk and listen keys, party lines, all-call with priority, reply, call signal, mic mute and remote mic kill, sidetone, fixed routes, presets, program feed with ducking, input gain and noise gate, an adaptive jitter buffer, role PINs, an event log, external control over HTTP and OSC with API tokens, a Stream Deck plugin, a self-managed HTTPS certificate with a start page that guides devices to it, and internet access.
